I must admit: I don’t usually read reviews of my work. Positive or negative, the reviewers’ words have a way of sticking in my head, taking up space that should be dedicated to other words — words that will eventually become characters and plots and whole new stories I can send out into the world to be reviewed…
But when I saw that Maria Haskins had published her review of Songs for Dark Seasons, I just couldn’t resist. With heart pounding, I sprinted to the end of the page, hoping, if I read quickly enough, I’d outrun any negative criticisms.
Well, it seems to have worked.
What a wonderful, measured, insightful, generous review!
And what a relief.
Head on over to Maria’s website to see why she’s concluded that: “Songs For Dark Seasons is a heady, surreal, and sublime collection of short stories, rich in both strangeness and beauty. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a must-read.”
