Australian Shadows Awards: With Bonus! Shirley Jackson Awards

Last week, the shortlists for this year’s Australian Shadows Awards were announced, and I’m delighted to see that my story ‘Outside, A Drifter’ is on the list for best short fiction! What’s even cooler, though, is that my work is in such great company — including excellent writers like Margo Lanagan, Kaaron Warren, and my dear Angela Slatter (a few times, in fact!) Winners will be announced on June 9th at Continuum in Melbourne.

The icing on this already sweet cake came a day later when I discovered that Looming Low, the beautiful anthology in which ‘Outside, A Drifter’ first appeared, has been nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award in the best edited anthology category! Such an achievement for Justin Steele and Sam Cowan, editors extraordinaire, and for the three authors in this collection whose works have individually nominated for Shirley Jacksons, too. Winners will be announced on July 15th at ReaderCon in the States.

Huge congratulations and best of luck to all!
