Mega-Catchup Post, Part Two: Ottawa

After leaving the World Fantasy Convention, I headed up to Ottawa to spend a couple of weeks with my family and friends. The theme of the fortnight was visiting, visiting, visiting. I kept my little suitcase packed and bounced from house to house every few days, seeing as much of my niece and nephews as possible (before they all grow up! I can’t believe how big they’ve gotten), celebrating my older sister’s birthday, watching Planet Earth on my younger sister’s awesome projector screen, playing crokinole a lot (because I’m a nerdy board game addict), drinking enough wine to fill Lake Ontario, and eating all the everything in Canadia. At night, once everyone had toddled off to bed, I worked on marking my students’ final assignments from Semester Two, answering interview questions about Midnight and Moonshine and applying for a new job in Adelaide… Which made for late late nights, BUT, I have, as a result, discovered the key to avoiding jetlag! Never sleep! Once I got back home, I had one day of overall exhaustion (probably from the 35 hour flight…) and the next day, voila! No more jetlag.

Instead of regaling you with tales from my time in Ottawa, I will provide a short, visual tour of my trip. Click on the thumbnails for a larger view — and enjoy!

      1. At least there’s no charges for excessive photography – books another matter entirely.
