Why on earth do people use their clothes dryers when the sun is shining, the weather is beautiful, they have an outdoor clothesline ready and waiting, and there’s a slight breeze outside?

My landlord’s wife has had the dryer running for the past 3 hours…
Punishment! I call for punishment, dammit! (she cackles in her best Wicked Witch of the West voice. She snaps her fingers and a flock of flying monkeys ride their magic brooms down to the ground floor, and smash the dryer to bits. The landlord’s wife is caught between swinging brooms, monkey’s tails, and her overheated–and overworked–dryer. Screaming like the power-wasting banshee she is, she flees for the horizon, trailing clothes pins and semi-dried laundry in her wake.
Silence reigns. The Wicked Witch is content. For now.)
