I’m so grateful to Alexandra Pierce at Speculative Insight for giving me the change to write an essay I’d been drafting in my mind for almost 5 years. ‘The history of our future’ is the most scarily and openly personal piece I have ever had published — a reflection on childbirth and early motherhood that both draws on my own (fairly traumatising) experience and also analyses how these things appear (or don’t) in the popular SF television series I love so much.
